It was an honour for myself and my old army friend ( who now lives in Holland ) to do the march, I wore my dads medals as well.

We both served in the British army together on Tanks in Germany, I served 1977 to 1986.

Many thanks Kevin

  1. Last year my wife Linda and me including Col. Paul Elverding and SgtMaj Dennis Oranje had the experience and privilege of walking the “bridge”. My father was a decorated Dutch soldier and I served in the US Marines in 1966-72. It was moving to say the least. I thank the organization who keeps the memory of that period of time, WW II, a constant awareness. I also thank the Col. and SgtMaj. for their efforts in presenting my father Teake Porte with his medal at age 100. It will remembered and appreciated by my family forever. Born in Amsterdam, we immigrated to America on February 11, 1957. Proud to be here and equally proud of my Dutch heritage. Semper Fi.
